System Setup
To perform the basic system setup, go to Configuration → Advanced Setup. Make sure to set your system name and primary IP address.
System Name
It is advisable to identify your system with a simple name. This will optionally be displayed on both administrator and user panels (display in header)
ipbx IP Address
This is the IP address or fully qualified domain name of your PBX server. If you have a public IP address assigned or port forwarding enabled, use your external IP address. Note that you might need to adjust your IP address in the SIP and/or IAX configurations (General Settings) separately.
Default Landing
The default landing option specifies whether visitors are sent to the administrator interface or the End User Panel when accessing the webserver root.
End User Panel
The End User Panel settings control access and features for the End User Interface. The end user interface can be accessed via http://myipaddress/user, where myipaddress is your server. Some features might only be available if the appropriate module has been registered.
Voicemail
Display Voicemail PIN's in plain text will display Voicemail PIN's in plain text in the administrator interface. See System → Voicemail → Mailboxes.
Default PIN Mode When creating users, ipbx will automatically assign Voicemail PIN's to users. These can be either the same as the mailbox number or a random 4 digit number. See System → Voicemail → Mailboxes.
Trunks
This interaction configures general options for trunk calls. Force ringback tone on trunk calls will cause outbound calls to always signal a ringing state, even if the remote end does not provide it. Only enable this if you have problems with getting proper ringback signalling from the far end.
Click to Call
The Play back connection announcement will enable the playback of a connecting announcement when using click to call features in the End User Panel and URL Control API.
The Auto Answer caller phone will cause the first leg to automatically answer if supported by your phone. Commonly supported phones include, Aastra, Polycom and Linksys. Note that some phones such as Polycom SoundPoint IP need to be configured used ipbx's automatic provisioning
International Calling Prefix
The international calling prefix is used whenever there is need to ID an international call. The default value of 00,011 will cover the US and most European countries. If you are using multiple prefices, make sure they aren't ambiguous (e.g. 00,0011). If you are using a outside dialing prefix such as 0 or 9, enter your international prefix as such, 000 or 9011 etc. The prefix is always taken into account BEFORE any transformations are applied. Conferencing
This interaction configures general options for 'meetme' style conferencing. The following options can set for announcing callers:
- don't announce callers default mode, no recordings and announcements will be made
- announce callers asks callers to record their name before joining the conference
- announce callers / record without review allow callers to review their recording

SIP Subscriptions
Automatic Hint Management allows you to control the automatic generation of SIP dialplan hints. This is required for busy lamp field (BLF) features on many phones.
Caller ID
Name
The system Default Caller ID name will be used whenever there is no preset default caller ID name. If you want to present this caller ID to the far end regardless of whether the call was forwarded check also apply on forwarded calls. Note that some providers will override caller ID settings that:
- are not within your assigned range
- do not conform to certain formatting standards or
- override it with a default caller ID.
If your provider does not accept caller ID name setting check don't send caller ID name on outbound calls. This is quite common on Voice T1's or E1's (PRI).
Number
The system Default Caller ID number will be used whenever there is no preset default caller ID name. If you want to present this caller ID to the far end regardless of whether the call was forwarded check also apply on forwarded calls. This is also the number that will be used when always use System Caller ID is set for a user.
- always use default caller ID name on outbound calls toggles the caller ID name sending on outbound calls. Otherwise the calling phone's caller ID name will be used independently of the caller ID number setting.
- never send caller ID name on outbound calls this prevents ipbx from setting a caller ID name on outbound calls. This is sometimes required on PRI circuits.
- never mask caller ID on internally forwarded calls this prevents ipbx from masking (setting the caller ID to 'unknown') when there is no known external caller ID for the calling party. E.g. extension 4000 (no DID set) calls extension 4001 which has his/her calls forwarded to his/her mobile phone. User at 4001 will normally see 'unknown' on their mobile phone, because extension 4000 has no DID assigned. If this is enabled, user 4001 would most likely see the ipbx primary/default caller ID and possibly call back the main number if he/her missed the call.
Hardware Interface
Which hardware interface naming system you intend to use. Zaptel is the deprecated name for Digium's DAHDI interface and should only be used in circumstances where older hardware drivers are required.
Additional Line Templates
If you are using the Additional Line/Softphone Module you can select a template that will be used to create the additional user line. Both SIP and IAX types are supported.
DHCP Settings
- DHCP Server allows you to use a remote DHCP server for automatic phone provisioning.
- DHCP Filter Network allows you to limit the display of DHCP leases.
Hardware Interface
This setting allows you to select which hardware interface you wish to use.
CDR Maintenance
The CDR Maintenance allows you to set an automated deletion schedule for your call records. Keep in mind that call logs can grow very big over time.
Queue Log Maintenance
